The Nation’s Capital accredited award-winning actor & filmmaker Morris D. Small. Morris is an experienced, highly skilled professional that has been trained across the board in many facets of the entertainment industry. Namely his talents make him a solid yet diverse actor, comedy, fight choreographer, mentor, radio personality, voice over talent, writer, director, and over all philanthropist. He has been acting since childhood and commenced professionally for over 15 years as a featured, support, and lead roles in television, film, and industrial.
How did you get into acting and why?
I became interested in the Entertainment industry as a child, I started out in school and church plays, and other performances. I was introduced to a SAG member that guided me into the profession. I enjoy the creativity and entertaining an audience.
What is the best advice you ever received?
The most important advice that I received was you always have to pay your dues in this industry.
What obstacles did you have to overcome?
Auditioning was an obstacle because there were not enough projects that required it and when you finally did get one it was a very quick process. The other obstacle was doing my first production, getting the locations, directing, postproduction, etc.
What is your favorite quote, motto or mantra and why?
“Denzel Washington
I say luck is when an opportunity comes along and you’re prepared for it.”
Why? I believe this because it has happened for me only when I was prepared.
Who inspires you the most?
My grandparents, they worked hard, they were persistent, they were tough, and they didn’t have excuses.
