I’m a mother and wife first. I graduated from Indiana University South Bend and Texas Woman’s University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics. However, I’m called to do something greater than myself to help people in need. Empathy is in my DNA and most likely has everything to do with my upbringing in Zimbabwe, Africa.
An UNA Women’s member, Global Goodwill Ambassador, and a United Nations Global Water Partner, I’m an active advocate for clean water and empowering women and girls to lead healthy and fulfilling lives. I stumbled upon the water issue by accident. Perhaps, it was meant to be. The water crisis exposes the ethical issues women and girls face today. So, I feel I have a duty to play my part to uplift those in need.
Inspired by my father who was an orphan and never went to school, 1 took the leap to continue his legacy. My father was a humanitarian advocate whose values and principles on giving continue to inspire his children, friends, and families across the world. JB Dondolo played a critical role in the fight against poverty in his community and Dondolo’s children saw the need to form this organization in honor of their father so his legacy of good deeds continues.

So, I started JB Dondolo, Inc., a nonprofit with a mission to remove barriers of access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene in underserved and impoverished communities to reduce poverty and promote gender equity. We see a world where clean water is not an obstacle to pursuing a better and more equitable life. Obviously, our main goal is to provide access to clean water. By doing so we help women and girls and the whole family as well. Since women and girls are the ones who are mostly tasked with collection of water, the best way to get them out of this cycle is to provide water solutions so they can focus on other things such as entrepreneurship and education to improve and advance themselves.
We use a scientific approach on our projects so there’s no second guessing. Our value partners are science and technology institutions, geologists, surveyors, and other water experts.
